MiCBT is a four-stage transdiagnostic approach to clinical disorders that integrates mindfulness training with core principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to improve how you address chronic conditions, crisis and prevent relapse in a wide range of psychological disorders.
You can learn more about this form of mindfulness-based therapy at the MiCBT Institute Website.
There are four stages of MiCBT training:
The MiCBT Workshop is a two day stand-alone course that will introduce you to the theory and practice of MiCBT that also serves as a pre-requisite for the Foundation and Applied Courses. The aim of this workshop is to introduce the integration of mindfulness training with core principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It will describe the theoretical framework underlying MiCBT and introduce you to skills that can be used across a wide range of chronic and acute conditions. This workshop will expand your understanding of operant conditioning and provide a strong neuro-behavioural basis for integrating mindfulness training with traditional CBT.
In the Foundation Course, you develop a sound understanding of MiCBT principles, theory and practice. A combination of didactic, practice and experiential learning helps you develop your mindfulness skills before learning to implement them with clients/patients.
In the Applied Course you learn how to implement MiCBT confidently with your individual clients and groups across a range of diagnoses, in most mental health settings, public and private, while being mentored and supported weekly by the trainer.
Given the rapid expansion of clinical applications of mindfulness training, formally recognised quality training (theoretically and empirically-based) has become an important matter for mental health therapists. An increasing number of referral agents and insurance companies expect clinicians to be certified in the method they use.
The MiCBT certification program is designed to enable you to become a specialist in the integration of mindfulness training with cognitive and behavioural therapies, expressed by the four-stage model of Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT). You will be able to offer this service with more confidence and skill to clients as individuals or in groups, in most health settings, public and private.
Completion of the Applied Course is required for participation in the MiCBT certification program. Lean More..
